The 21st World Aquatics Championships will begin in Doha, Qatar, on February 2.
This is the first time that the World Aquatics Championships are being held in the Middle East.
Organizers of the event said, “More than 2,500 athletes from 197 countries, including refugee athletes, will participate and compete for 75 gold medals in 6 events.”
The diving competition (13 gold medals) will be held at the Hamad Aquatic Center from February 2 to 10, local time, and the artistic swimming competition (11 gold medals) will be held at the Aspire Dome during the same period.
Open Water Swimming will take place from February 3 to 8 at Old Doha Port with five gold medals to be won.
High diving (2 gold medals) will provide ‘dizzying pleasure’ on a special stage at Old Doha Port from February 13th to 15th.
Water polo will compete at the Aspire Dome from February 4th to 17th to determine the men's and women's champions.
